Term: Contract Duration: 12 months Working hours: Full-time Team: Insurance Location: Bristol Specialism: Professional Indemnity Acting for insurers and their policyholders, our professional risk experts provide clear, prompt and practical advice on defending claims against the full spectrum of professionals and investigate and advise on insurance policy coverage issues. Our Professional Risks Team is one of the longest established legal teams in the insurance industry and we’re proud of the long-term relationships we have with many of our clients. The team are particularly respected for their work defending lawyers, accountants, architects and surveyors and regularly act in disputes involving insureds that are ranked at the top of their profession. They also deal with claims brought against insurance intermediaries, investment and pensions professionals, IT consultants and other miscellaneous professions. The team now have an opportunity for a Paralegal to join them in Bristol on a contract basis for 12 months. So what will you be doing? In this busy and varied role you'll provide an essential claims handling service for a major insurer. You'll be responsible for your own caseload and advise insureds on a daily basis as to the best way to respond to and resolve claims made against them. You'll be working with excel spreadsheets to provide management information for the insurer when required. In addition, you'll assist lawyers in the team with a variety of fee-earning tasks including document management, disclosure exercises, compiling bundles, preparing costs estimates and schedules, legal research, drafting correspondence and preparing instructions to experts and counsel. So what does the ideal candidate look like? You'll have strong legal academics, either from a law degree, Graduate Diploma in Law or CILEx qualification and some previous paralegal experience gained from a commercial environment. You'll be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written, possess strong IT skills (including MS Word, Excel and Outlook) as well as being highly organised and adaptable and any previous experience in professional negligence will give your application a distinct advantage.
