We are looking for a talented Associate to join our successful Global International Dispute Resolution team in our London office. This is an exciting time to join Squire Patton Boggs’ International Dispute Resolution (IDR) team with the opportunity to work from an international platform, leveraging from the international work done by our superb Resolution teams.   Our Team London is the central hub of our international arbitration work and our lawyers have successfully argued arbitration cases under all leading rules and before all leading institutions, with a proven track record of winning complex cases. The breath of our arbitration experience has given us a deep insight into a number of cutting-edge procedural and substantive arbitration issues. From London, we assemble teams of international lawyers for each arbitration case that combine deep knowledge of the laws, languages, and political and business cultures of the relevant jurisdictions. The IDR team has significant areas of real expertise and market recognition, and is particularly well-known as specialists in disputes involving gas, LNG and oil supply agreements. The firm has an unbroken success rate acting for buyers in natural gas price review disputes. The London IDR team are also investment treaty specialists. Working with our established offices in Central Europe and Moscow we have an outstanding record in defending governments against investment treaty claims in all of the major investment arbitration venues. In addition to these specialties, the London IDR team also has distinguishable expertise and experience in international commercial disputes. We successfully represented a Russian client in a high profile multijurisdictional fraud dispute, which included a landmark victory before the Privy Council. We are focused on providing our clients with the highest quality of service and representation and becoming a long-term trusted adviser.   Our Opportunity   Our highly successful IDR group is continuing to expand its practice in London. There has been an increase in client demand and revenue growth in 2017 and the London IDR team continues to seek to expand at the associate level. You’ll work on energy specific disputes, whilst undertaking the project management of significant international arbitration proceedings across our global platform. The right candidate will work on both national and international disputes. The team have seen a considerable increase in their pipeline of work for the next 12 months, so from day one you’ll advise on a wide range of complex energy industry issues, always ensuring our advocacy strategy is aligned with our clients’ business interests. There is also a number of time critical case management/project management tasks to be undertaken that only an experienced senior lawyer will be able to handle.   You   Ideally you’ll have between 4 - 7 years’ experience and specialise in energy disputes. You will demonstrate a strong interest in complex international arbitration and litigation disputes and should have excellent academic credentials, with the drive and ability to deliver high-quality work and take initiative. Ideally, you’ll be coming from a well-recognised international, national or regional practice. You will thrive in a collaborative team environment, and be intellectually curious and enjoy resolving challenging legal issues
