Description  We are seeking a top Mid-Level (at least 5 years PQE) Commercial Disputes Associate to join this ambitious and growing team. The role is focussed on advising clients in relation to contentious insolvency.  Other areas include, professional negligence claims; international arbitration before a range of tribunals; contract and regulatory disputes; mediation and other forms of ADR; regulatory investigations, reviews and inquiries; and general commercial disputes advice, often with an international and cross-practice group element. This matter involved Reed Smith litigators in Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as London. Members of the department regularly work on high value cross-border disputes across a range of sectors. We are seeing an increasing number of regulatory and corporate crime instructions in the Group, with a major international fraud investigation into a hedge fund, which is valued at more than $1 billion, keeping many of our lawyers busy currently.   Responsibilities  Advise and support clients from identification of potential issues and claims to final resolution, either through settlement or court or arbitral adjudication. Identify key legal, commercial and procedural issues and risks Deliver legal and disputes support and advice Provide support to clients and colleagues by working in integrated teams with clients and a full range of consultants, or advising experts. Manage large analysis of legal issues and research within team and supervise as appropriate Input and participate in pitch/panel presentations Deliver real-time and strategic dispute advice.   Key Requirements  A common law jurisdiction qualified lawyer with at least 5 years post qualification with relevant contentious insolvency experience in a top-tier law firm Broad experience of contentious disputes Extensive experience of dispute proceedings – including adjudication, litigation and international arbitration Experience of engaging with witnesses, experts, drafting pleadings and advocacy Ability to lead complex disputes proceedings with limited partner supervision Ability to demonstrate a high degree of sector knowledge and commercial awareness Excellent written communication and drafting skills Self-confident, proactive, pragmatic approach to tasks and projects Highly enthusiastic and self-motivated The ability to interact and build relationships with people at all levels Ability to work well in both a team and individually Commitment to excellent client service Desire and experience of being involved in business development and marketing Ability to handle client contact from the outset
