Overview/ The role:

The Financial Services group of our established and highly regarded Financial Markets department is looking to appoint an experienced regulatory Associate. The Regulatory team undertakes technical and complex financial services and markets regulatory work for a wide range of clients including; brokerage houses, investment exchanges, investment banks, commodity traders, asset management companies and other financial institutions operating in the UK and international financial markets.

The range of work on offer includes advising a broad spectrum of financial services providers (including both buy- and sell-side clients) on the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and FCA regulation, strategic domestic and international regulatory issues, market infrastructure and derivatives and commodity trading documentation.

We are seeking an experienced associate to work alongside the partners who specialise in UK and European regulation of the financial services and markets sector, including market infrastructure; asset management and the trading, clearing and settlement of securities, commodities and derivatives, including market conduct issues; and the operation and structure of financial services businesses. Experience of working with MIFID1 would be highly advantageous. This role will be both advisory and transactional.



 Person specification:


  • Excellent academics.
  • Applicants will ideally have between 3 and 5 years’ post qualification experience within UK and European regulatory within the Financial Services market, which will have been gained at another leading City practice.
  • Strong client focus with an ability and willingness to get actively involved in marketing and business development.
  • Commercially driven.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work additional hours on occasion as required.
