Firm Introduction

Pinsent Masons is an international law firm with a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality legal advice rooted in its deep understanding of the sectors and geographies in which its clients operate. With over 1,500 lawyers operating from 23 locations throughout the UK, Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East, Pinsent Masons is well-placed to advise on complex multi-jurisdictional transactions across a full range of legal disciplines.

In recent years it has achieved more tier 1 rankings in The Legal 500 UK guide than any other firm, and is recognised among the most innovative law firms in Europe by the Financial Times. The firm has significant international credentials in the global energy, infrastructure, financial services and advanced manufacturing and technology sectors. Services provided across these sectors include corporate and M&A, commercial, competition, litigation and arbitration, banking, restructuring, insurance, regulatory, construction, projects, pensions, property, planning and environmental, procurement, outsourcing, employment, share plans, technology and tax advice.

Pinsent Masons stands out in particular for its innovative approach to service delivery. For example, the firm operates a hub of freelance lawyers, called Vario, and has also developed Cerico, a cloud-based regulatory compliance solution. It has developed long-term service agreements, often referred to as ‘sole adviser’ relationships, with a number of blue-chip organisations.

We are currently looking to recruit a Birmingham based Lawyer with 0-3yr PQE to join our Banking team.  There will be opportunities to work on both asset based lending and banking transactions, regionally and nationally.

We advise a broad range of funders and borrowers on a wide variety of financing transactions.  We act for all the UK clearing banks, a number of other European and investment banks, independent financiers and investment funds on all types of facilities from acquisition finance, leveraged finance and real estate finance to asset based lending, securitisation and debt capital markets.  We also act for many borrowers, from listed companies to small enterprises, on their financings.  Our practice is broad and very varied.

We have a high quality legal service banking team with access to a deep knowledge of current market practice.  We deliver a truly partner led service and strongly believe in being fully joined up across our network of offices.   Our talented team of lawyers has an insight and appreciation of the needs and pressures of clients in the financial services sector.  We are renowned for the quality and speed of delivery of our advice, our innovative thinking and our grasp of commercial issues.

Independent commentators on the legal profession rate our group's abilities across the range of specialist banking areas in which we advise and describe us as "impressive and prized by the high-profile banking clients" for whom we act.

The Candidate Required

The ideal candidate must have some banking experience.  An understanding of asset based lending and/or invoice financing and/or LMA documentation is helpful but not essential.

The successful candidate will ideally have gained experience in either a leading national or City firm.  Candidates must be technically excellent but equally important, commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development.  They will be a team player with a strong client focussed approach and excellent communication and organisational skills.   A willingness to work across a variety of the banking specialism is a must.  In return the candidate will received unrivalled exposure to a range of exciting and challenging finance work.

The Opportunity

  • The very best national and international work.
  • Early responsibility and opportunities to develop client relationships.
  • Genuine long-term career prospects supported through our "best in class" training and our Academy personal development programmes.
