Job Description

Job Title   Banking Associate (3-4 PQE), Real Estate Finance   Department   Financial Markets   Role   Associate   Job Location   Bristol   Description

Our international banking team operates as a global fully-integrated practice acting for banks, government agencies and corporates on some of the most complex and innovative transactions worldwide. Our expertise includes acquisition and bid finance, structured finance, syndicated lending, secured lending, project finance, trade finance, asset finance and workouts and restructurings.

Our team works to ensure that banking transactions proceed quickly and effectively, with the minimum of fuss. Our position as a world class law firm, with a finance practice covering all facets of debt, structured lending and securities issues, enables us to put any transaction into the right context and provide the services which are appropriate to it.

The team has 127 staff, including 37 partners. Our lawyers advise on global banking issues, operating from the following locations: Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Amsterdam, Brussels, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, London, Luxembourg, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Hong Kong, Beijing, Singapore and Tokyo.

The client base of the Banking team is predominately banks, investment funds and high end borrower work, much of which is headline making. Much of our lender and borrower work falls in line with the firm’s sector approach and we have developed a strong reputation acting in the Asset Management, TMT, Life Sciences and the Energy and Infrastructure sectors as specialist lender/borrower counsel, as well as continuing the more traditional lending work for the bank client base.

The role:

We are seeking an experienced associate to work alongside the partners in the Banking group but with a focus on real estate finance. The successful candidate will have a broad range of transactional and general banking experience with a significant proportion of that experience being in real estate finance.

The features that mark us out from our competitors are: a reputation for attentive service, providing commercial solutions, the quality of our relationships with leading financial institutions; and a very strong commercial and investment bank based practice.

Our UK banking team operates across our Bristol and London offices and this position is available in either office. Office location will have no effect on the type of work that the associate will undertake or the partners that they will work with.

Person specification:

  • Excellent academics.
  • Applicants will ideally have between three and four years’ post qualification experience.
  • Strong client focus with an ability and willingness to get actively involved in marketing and business development.
  • Commercially driven.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work additional hours on occasion as required.
