We are seeking a highly motivated and professional Lawyer of between 3 - 7 PQE to join our Insolvency team.
We act for insolvency practitioners, creditors, companies, directors and other stakeholders in both formal insolvencies and financially distressed situations.
Having a reasonable understanding of the firm’s values and culture, you will be keen to raise the profile of the team and play a key role in business development opportunities. You will represent our clients to the highest standard and will be eager to broaden your range of expertise and skills.
The core focus of our insolvency practice is on insolvency litigation, acting for office-holders, businesses, directors, creditors, regulatory bodies, debtors and individuals. We advise on all aspects of corporate and personal recovery, and the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of the following:
advising office holders on appointment and recovery actions;
investigations, asset-tracing and recovery, including injunctive relief and other pre-emptory relief;
distressed companies and their boards, directors and creditors;
misfeasance claims and directors’ duties advice;
cross-border insolvency issues;
insolvency litigation including antecedent transactions;
property insolvency issues;
bankruptcy property recovery;
family law aspects of bankruptcy; and
administration of insolvent estates.
The successful candidate will possess a willingness to work on a variety of matters and the ability to work both within a team on substantial document heavy cases and also to manage their own caseload. Experience of liaising directly with clients and counsel is essential.
Qualifications & Experience
Educated to degree level, preferably in Law and having preferably obtained a 2:1 or above although all applications will be considered
LPC / BVC qualified essential. Offers made prior to this being obtained will be subject to successful completion of exams
UK qualified Solicitors or Legal Executives. Foreign qualified lawyers should be in the process of undertaking the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test (QLTT)
Motivation & Competencies
Willingness to play a key role in the team both internally and externally, particularly in relation to marketing and business development
Evidence of interest in, and commitment to, the success of the firm. Relevant experience within a professional services firm would be desirable
Although a “following” is by no means essential, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have some good contacts in the insolvency market

Excellent communication both written and verbal - the role involves liaison with internal and external people at a senior level

Ability to help with the supervision of junior staff within the department
Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism in all dealings. Able to deal sympathetically and appropriately with clients and to show empathy with them

Must be able to multitask and keep calm under pressure
The flexibility to work outside normal office hours as may be required from time to time
