Solicitor (5-6 PQE) - Private Client - Richmond

  • Location: Richmond office
  • Department: Wills, tax and trusts

Salary: Market Rate

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced solicitor to join our private client team in our growing Richmond office, which has recently been bolstered by the incorporation of established Richmond practice, Calvert Smith & Sutcliffe. The team covers the full range of private client matters, including Wills, estate planning, trusts, probate, powers of attorney, Court of Protection and elderly client matters.

The role will involve contributing to business development initiatives.

Key responsibilities

Activities will be varied and will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • take client instructions and progress matters
  • support other fee earners in the provision of service to their clients by progressing matters that are delegated
  • keep control of an allocated caseload to ensure that standards of matter conduct, file management, administration, time-recording and accounting are maintained at all times
  • recognise the importance of cross-selling and identify opportunities to refer work to other teams
  • take an active role and contribute to the business development initiatives of the firm
  • regularly update knowledge and expertise and share this with others in the team.

Skills and attributes

  • Minimum of 5 years experience of domestic private client work
  • Demonstrated experience of trust creation and administration
  • STEP membership essential
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to take part in business development
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Highly organised with good attention to detail
  • Good IT skills
  • Experience of dealing with high-net-worth individuals both onshore and offshore
  • Proven financial record; ability and willingness to provide excellent client service and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle complex tax and trust issues and manage all aspects in an holistic manner
