Recent matters in the Data/Cyber Security space include :


  • a central bank on its cybersecurity exposure and risk mitigation strategies • a major technology client on a global cyber compliance programme • e-commerce company in relation to disputes concerning liabilities arising as a result of website payment system cyber attacks and compromises • a stock listed Japanese company on the creation of a global video streaming platform, including data protection and cloud computing • an international bank on its European data privacy compliance programme, including steps to address the EU General Data Protection Regulation • an online marketplace on investigating alleged data breaches, responding to regulator, public relations and managing communications • Microstrategy on its customers’ personal data issues regarding the launch of its new cloud services business

Key Responsibilities

The role-holder will have the key responsibilities of : - Managing associate for GDPR projects; - Conducting data privacy and cyber due diligence; - Leading data aspects of M&A transactions.


Lawyers in the group have the opportunity to gain top quality experience across a diverse range of cyber security, Data and technology based transactions including : - Data protection and trans-border data flows; - Online trading and payment systems; - Software development, licensing and distribution; - Protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights; - Encryption, electronic signatures and trusted third parties; and - Outsourcing, IT, telecoms, HR and business process services.

Skills and Qualifications

We are seeking a mid to senior level lawyer who has outstanding experience within the TMT space. As well as a focus on Cyber Security and the Data Privacy space, you will have also ideally gained experienced in a range of Media, Technology and Telecoms matters including Outsourcing, business separation arrangements and Software Development and Licensing.  In all cases you should have first class legal ability coupled with a practical commercial approach, excellent drafting and communication skills and enjoy being part of a friendly outgoing team. You should demonstrate strong communication and analytical skills along with a high level of commercial awareness. You will have an exceptional track record, probably gained at a City firm, or at an overseas common law practice with a highly regarded profile.  A strong academic history is essential. You will need to demonstrate a strong track record of leading transactions.
