Overview of the Vacancy

TWM Solicitors LLP require a 0-3 year pqe Private Client solicitor for our Leatherhead office. The ideal person will be a dynamic individual and with demonstrable expertise and enthusiasm in dealing with a full range of private client work, gained at a practice recognised in this area.  STEP and/or SFE qualifications are preferred.

Job Description

  • To undertake fee earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of the department

  • To meet fee earning and other KPI targets

  • To ensure the successful development of the firm in line with the current published Business Plan

  • To handle wills, powers of attorney, trusts, probate and tax advice work for private clients and to build and develop your own case load

  • To participate in the marketing of the firm by active participation in networking, seminar provision etc.

  • To maintain and improve client care

  • To develop own specialist areas of work

  • To assist the department as a whole in meeting its fee earning targets by providing help regarding advice and assistance to clients of the Department as well as other departments of the Firm

  • Financial control with particular regard to cash-flow control through collection of monies on account and billing procedures

  • To travel to client meetings when required

  • To promote good file management, to formulate and advance internal procedures and to ensure compliance with Lexcel and other regulatory procedures

  • To understand and undertake proper referral of work to relevant departments and development of work for other departments

  • To be willing to be involved in activities of the firm outside of work within the department

  • To be involved in practice development

To be successful, you will

  • Have a good honours degree
  • Have competence in chosen area of law and practice
  • Have proven record of achieving targets in respect of chargeable hours, fees, recovery rate, lock-up and non-chargeable time
  • Have experience in developing and maintaining a client/referrer base
  • Have sound training
  • Have well developed interpersonal, social and communication skills including an appreciation of the vulnerability of some of our clients, both generally and also specifically at distressing time
