Secretary (Commercial) - Southampton

A one-off opportunity has arisen to join the hugely respected commercial team in our Southampton office.  The team are looking for a secretary to support them in all aspects of their work on a full-time basis.

What do the commercial team do?

The commercial law team blends lawyers from a variety of backgrounds and advises on a full range of commercial contracts and specialist areas such as IT, outsourcing and intellectual property.  Clients of the team range from start-ups to some of the world’s largest companies. They also represent public sector organisations and private sector companies in their arrangements to provide products and services to public sector organizations. 

What are they looking for?

An organised and experienced secretary who can demonstrate first-class IT skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and an eye for detail.  Legal experience is not a pre-requisite for this role, but experience of working as a secretary in a large commercial/corporate organisation most definitely is.  You'll need to be confident working with complex legal agreements, making amendments when asked using tracked changes and also preparing comparison documents. 

What will the role involve?

As mentioned above, documents play a large part of this role.  You'll also be keeping on top of multiple diaries, organising meetings, travel and accommodation as necessary.  There'll be some work around client billing, including preparation of bills and assisting with client reporting using excel spreadsheets.  You will also have responsibility for file maintenance, both electronic and paper-based.
