With one of the largest Pensions Team in the UK, a national client base and reputation to match, it's easy to see how our pensions lawyers provide a full pensions law advice service to both employers and pension scheme trustees. Working with some of the UK’s largest companies and schemes, across a range of sectors, as well as public service and voluntary organisations, their work encompasses the full range of legal advice in relation to UK pension schemes from day-to-day benefit queries and member complaints to large scale restructuring and liability management projects.
Just because we're big, though, doesn't mean we've lost our personal touch. It’s the quality and commerciality of our service, our industry insight and the talent and passion of our people that engages our clients, and they love what we do. It also means that our people are engaged, and excited about the opportunities for growth and development in our business – there's no doubt that it's an exciting place to be.
The team led by Partner, Martin Poore, has an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified lawyer to join them to strengthen their national offering to be based in either our Newcastle or Leeds offices, providing a genuine chance to join a highly motivated and supportive team with a wealth of relevant experience.
What will you be doing?
You'll build and maintain strong relationships with client contacts and across the pensions industry generally. Business development is key to this role, so you'll contribute to the growth of the team by attending client events, writing articles for our website or other publications and marketing activities. You'll be keeping abreast of knowhow developments, drafting legal documents and negotiating on complex transactions, ranging from individual complaints and disputes to Pensions Ombudsman and court proceedings.
What does the ideal candidate look like?
You'll be a newly qualified lawyer keen to specialise in pensions law who's ideally had exposure to quality pensions work during your training contract from a large regional or city firm with excellent drafting skills and a sense of commercial pragmatism. This role covers intellectually challenging law so you'll have meticulous attention to detail and be acutely aware of the need to keep up to speed with knowhow due to the government regularly changing the pensions landscape and the courts handing down a number of cases that have potentially wide reaching consequences.
So what makes it so great to work here?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit and supportive team where you can learn from true leaders in their field and build your experience with access to great quality work and great clients. Supported by a collegiate approach, and firm wide commitment to lawyer development there are fewer better places to start your career as a qualified lawyer or continue your career as a lawyer.
And that's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.
