We are looking for an Associate to join our highly regarded property litigation team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team that has enjoyed significant growth over the last 3 years.
You will have the chance to work with every member of the cross-office team and cover the full spectrum of property litigation matters. We encourage our Associates to win their own work and build client relationships from the outset. Our specialist real estate litigation lawyers excel in helping clients resolve all manner of disputes, ranging from landlord and tenant to complex and highly technical development disputes. We cover the full spectrum of services and have a wide range of experience, from advising clients on the effective management of their property portfolios, to early-stage dispute avoidance advice and mediation, all the way up to full-blown litigation and third-party determination.
As well as handling complex, high value development and landlord and tenant disputes, we also have specialist expertise in niche areas such as rights to light, telecoms disputes, residential property (including Build-to-Rent assets) and energy and utilities

The team is based across our London and Bristol offices and made up of 20 lawyers overall. The London-based team is led by Gary Lawrenson (Partner) and also consists of 1 Associate Director, 2 Senior Associates, 2 Associates & 1 Trainee Solicitor. The team pride themselves on their collegiate and supportive approach to career progression and business development.
Represented lead appellant in a landmark Supreme Court appeal concerning recreational easements.
Acted for UNITE Group plc in relation to a development dispute with Arsenal FC group regarding rights to light issues.
Successfully acted for Topland Group in dispute relating to the Landlord and Tenant (Covenants) Act 1995. This decision provided welcome clarity to the commercial landlord and tenant world about how to unwind an unlawful assignment.
Successfully acted for Gazeley in Lands Chamber and Court of Appeal in Claim for compensation for the diminution in the value of a development site caused by overhead electricity lines.
Acted for a luxury hotel in relation to a dispute with British Land plc related companies in respect of rights to light issues.
Trusted adviser to a range of landlords and corporate occupiers, assisting with their day-to-day asset management work as well as wider strategy for their portfolios.
Technical skills and experience
Due to the technical nature of the practice, we are looking for evidence of a strong academic record and training ideally gained within a large regional or City Firm. We are also looking for candidates with a good grounding in property litigation matters, ideally having completed a specialist seat during their training. As a guide, due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking to appoint an Associate within this area, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.
