The Group

The Corporate Group spans all of the firm's offices, with the mainstream London team consisting of 19 partners and over 28 fee earners. The team provides a full-service offering ensuring we cater for our client's wide range of legal needs. The corporate team includes transactional experience across M&A, Corporate Finance and Private Equity. Our Private Equity expertise extends to all areas of the sector, with our team comprising not only corporate lawyers but also specialists in energy, banking, fund formation, tax and employment. The Corporate Team are Tier 1 ranked for middle-market private equity (UK) in the latest edition of The Legal 500 and are recognised as the "go to firm for mid-market private equity." Most recently they  were crowned 'Law Firm of the Year' in the Deal Structuring category at the British Private Equity Awards 2017 and are. 

The FIRE team forms part of the wider Group however works closely with our Tax, Regulatory and Real Estate teams. The team currently consists of 3 Partners and 6 fee earners.

Our corporate real estate team is a specialist team spanning our market leading corporate and real estate practices. With an exceptional client roster and growing reputation as the go-to team in the City, it specialises in advising fund managers, investors, property companies (both public and private) and developers on complex corporate wrapped real estate transactions, including investments/divestments, joint ventures and corporate restructurings as well as the associated management arrangements. 

The team is well established with a strong sense of identity – this is nurtured through a mix of challenging and interesting work in an environment with a good support network, where all of the team are given opportunities to work on matters and clients across a broad range of disciplines and where flexibility is actively encouraged and facilitated.

The Role

We are looking to recruit an experienced corporate M&A lawyer to join this growing practice. Advising on a wide range of transactions (including complex UK, international and cross-border real estate joint ventures; and big-ticket corporate wrapped real estate acquisitions and disposals), the role offers an exciting opportunity to work with some of the leading figures in the industry.

You should have at least 5 years corporate M&A experience. Prior experience in the real estate sector is beneficial but will not prevent a candidate from being considered where relevant experience, interest and market knowledge can be demonstrated.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to take direct responsibility for clients and to become actively involved in client and business development initiatives. There is significant scope for you to build a practice and contribute to the wider success of the firm. There are excellent prospects for progression within this role and within the firm as a whole.  

Knowledge, skills and experience required  

You will have:
  • Excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2:1 degree  
  • At least 5 years of post qualification experience gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level
  • Clear understanding and working experience of the operation and structure of a leading law firm and the needs of the clients of a top flight team  
  • Able to draft and negotiate all aspects of a sale and purchase agreement and joint venture agreement  
  • Strong working knowledge of a variety of different vehicles including limited partnerships
