Job Description

Vacancy Description

Paralegal - Transaction Services Team - Manchester

The Transaction Services Team is AG's award winning and dynamic response to the changing legal market.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced legal professionals to expand their skill set and be part of a growing and exciting team and for anyone studying the GDL or LPC it offers the chance to gain valuable work experience whilst completing your studies.  However, we are not limiting recruitment to those with a legal background. We would welcome applicants with various experiences – those, for example, who have worked in a busy office or have excellent client facing skills or have extensive administrative experience would all be considered.

Addleshaw Goddard is also one of the top 30 employers for working families and is able to offer part time hours to suit busy parents, students or those with other commitments.

What will I be doing?

The work of a Paralegal in the TST is a varied one. All of our Paralegals are assigned to one of the Divisionally aligned subteams. You can expect to work on a variety of assignments from across all of the Firm's Divisions, not just the one you are aligned to which gives you a good insight into the workings of a commercial law firm. The assignments you will be working on can include the following:

  • Reviewing and reporting on contracts and other documentation as part of a corporate due diligence exercise
  • Drafting and producing legal documentation and standard forms
  • Assessing the relevance of a wide range of documentation as part of litigation cases
  • Managing electronic data sites, uploading and ordering documentation, and liaising with third parties
  • Providing transactional support on corporate, banking or real estate projects
  • Checking legal documents for quality, consistency and content
  • Creating bundles for trial and employment tribunals
  • Providing support to our clients on-site
  • Looking at how technology can be used to deliver legal work more efficiently
  • Any additional tasks as required by the business

What are we looking for?

Due to the dynamic nature of the work we do and the clients we seek to serve, the role is not an ordinary 9-5 job. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, who takes real pride in their work and who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment. You will have:

  • A high level of attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating an ability to communicate with colleagues at all  levels
  • A positive, enthusiastic, and proactive approach your work
  • Effective personal organisational and time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple demands
  • The ability to work to tight timescales with a sense of urgency
  • Common sense, commerciality and the ability to exercise sound judgement
  • A strong desire to develop and succeed

Previous paralegal or administration experience is of relevance, but not essential. Experience in relation to commercial contracts would be advantageous.
