Coffin Mew’s specialist Insolvency & Business Recovery team offers clear and practical advice and assistance on all corporate and personal insolvency and business recovery related matters. An experienced and friendly team with a wealth of experience and knowledge, includes two licensed insolvency practitioners, is recognised by independent directories Legal 500 and Chambers and is based in Southampton, London and Brighton. The team also draws on the experience and expertise of key colleagues in our Dispute Resolution, Commercial Property and Employment teams.
The team has been shortlisted as Finalists in the 2016 Insolvency and Rescue Awards.
We have an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded Insolvency and Business Recovery team, who take a collaborative and inclusive approach to the work they perform.
You will have contentious and non-contentious insolvency and business recovery experience and will either be newly qualified or have 2 years PQE (or equivalent experience) and have excellent written communication and drafting skills, together with a proven track record of being able to build and maintain relationships with clients.
The team’s clients are predominantly licensed insolvency practitioners, but it also acts for business owners, company directors, debtors and creditors.
Our work involves both contentious and non-contentions insolvency and business recovery related work. This includes, amongst other things, advisory work, asset realisations, business sales and bringing and defending insolvency claims.
The team punches well above its weight in terms of the type of instructions it undertakes, which over the last 12 months has included:
• Advising the joint officeholders on a trading administration and subsequent CVA of a large substantial multi-let industrial centre and dealing with the subsequent sale of the site.
• Advising the joint officeholders on the administration and business sale of a high profile national retailer.
• Dealing with a highly contentious bankruptcy involving setting aside an injunction obtained ex parte, possession and sale proceedings, various property sales, opposed applications to annul and a contested suspension of discharge application.
• Acting for the administrators of a company in successfully opposing an application by a proprietary creditor for leave to take possession of assets, so that the purpose of the administration could be achieved.
Coffin Mew LLP is committed to providing equal opportunities in employment for all of our current and prospective employees. We recognise and value individual differences and seek to retain and recruit talented individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds.
