Job Description

Pinsent Masons is an international law firm with a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality legal advice rooted in its deep understanding of the sectors and geographies in which its clients operate. With over 1,500 lawyers operating from 20 locations throughout the UK, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, Pinsent Masons is well-placed to advise on complex multi-jurisdictional transactions across a full range of legal disciplines.

In recent years it has achieved more tier 1 rankings in The Legal 500 UK guide than any other firm, and is recognised among the most innovative law firms in Europe by the Financial Times. The firm has significant international credentials in the global energy, infrastructure, financial services and advanced manufacturing and technology sectors. Services provided across these sectors include corporate and M&A, commercial, competition, litigation and arbitration, banking, restructuring, insurance, regulatory, construction, projects, pensions, property, planning and environmental, procurement, outsourcing, employment, share plans, technology and tax advice.

Pinsent Masons stands out in particular for its innovative approach to service delivery. For example, the firm operates a hub of freelance lawyers, called Vario, and has also developed Cerico, a cloud-based regulatory compliance solution. It has developed long-term service agreements, often referred to as ‘sole adviser’ relationships, with a number of blue-chip organisations.

Candidate and role overview

We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic lawyer to join the well respected share plans and incentives team within the Employment Group at Pinsent Masons.

Share plans and incentives form part of our cross-practice group reward offering (remuneration, benefits and incentives), with particular focus on our global sectors.  Current high profile reviews of executive remuneration by the government and other interested parties, the media spotlight on diversity and gender pay issues and growing awareness by employers of the need for financial education and the importance of financially-related workplace benefits, together with continuing all-party support for wider share ownership make it an exciting area in which to work.

Share plans and incentives draw on a number of areas of legal knowledge: tax, employment, governance and regulatory, corporate and commercial. It requires drafting skills with a good eye for detail, an ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in plain English, an organised and practical approach, strong project management skills, the ability to deal with a range of people and personalities, and a sense of humour!

The successful candidate is likely to:

·                have trained with a leading City or national law firm;

·                have experience of share plans and incentives in a transactional and/or advisory context, usually from a background within a tax, corporate or employment group;

·                have 2-4 years post-qualification experience;

·                be looking for a full-time position;

·                be based in our Leeds or Manchester offices;

·                be willing and able to travel as required;

·                be willing to be involved in presentations to clients and contacts as part of our continuing drive to develop this area of our business.

The Opportunity

  • The very best national and international work.
  • Early responsibility and opportunities to develop client relationships.

·      Genuine long-term career prospects supported through our "best in class" training and our Academy personal development programmes.
