The Team

Fieldfisher's Technology, Outsourcing & Privacy team is one of the largest and most specialised European privacy and technology teams, with a truly global outlook. We are a truly specialist, market-leading team with international coverage and unique expertise gained over years of advising on business-critical global privacy and data protection projects and technology work. We assist and advise both multinational organisations and start-up companies on all aspects of data protection compliance (international data transfers, data breach management, privacy policies, etc.)

Our clients come from within the multinationals in FMCG businesses; cloud and IT service providers, professional services firms as well as the UK government and the health and charitable sectors. We help companies with the regulatory aspects of doing business online (e-commerce, apps, cookies, direct marketing, etc.), as well as with the drafting and negotiation of complex IT and outsourcing agreements.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced lawyer to join the Privacy team of our Technology, Outsourcing & Privacy practice in London (with proven and extensive experience of international data privacy and/or security matters).

You will be working on a whole range of privacy and data protection matters, including compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation, international data transfers, data security breaches, direct marketing and ePrivacy.

In addition, you may also be required to assist clients on general technology-related matters, such as e-commerce and outsourcing agreements.

You will be working closely with colleagues in our European and Silicon Valley offices.

Key Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • A qualified lawyer with proven and extensive experience in international Privacy Law.
  • Excellent academic history.
  • Technically very competent but also able to apply the law in a commercial and pragmatic way to achieve our clients' objectives.
  • An ability to work independently and manage large projects with minimal partner supervision.
  • Experience and a keen interest in marketing and business development.
  • A confident and professional manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to summarise complex legal issues in plain language;
  • Dual-qualification and additional language fluency is desirable but not essential.
