Pinsent Masons is an international law firm with a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality legal advice rooted in its deep understanding of the sectors and geographies in which its clients operate. With over 1,500 lawyers operating from over 20 locations throughout the UK, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, Pinsent Masons is well-placed to advise on complex multi-jurisdictional matters and disputes across a full range of legal disciplines.

In recent years it has achieved more tier 1 rankings in The Legal 500 UK guide than any other firm, and recognised among the most innovative law firms in Europe by the Financial Times. Pinsent Masons was named Law Firm of the Year 2016 at the prestigious Legal Business awards. It follows a judging process comprised of General Counsel from some of the UK’s largest corporates.

The firm has significant international credentials in the global energy, infrastructure, financial services and advanced manufacturing and technology sectors. Services provided across these sectors include corporate and M&A, commercial, competition, litigation and arbitration, banking, restructuring, insurance, regulatory, construction, projects, pensions, property, planning and environmental, procurement, outsourcing, employment, share plans, technology and tax advice.

Pinsent Masons stands out in particular for its innovative approach to service delivery. For example, the firm operates a hub of freelance lawyers, called Vario, and has also developed Cerico, a cloud-based regulatory compliance solution. Recently Pinsent Masons has also invested in Yuzu. This is building a service that will allow large corporates to transfer parts of their legal functions out of their businesses while retaining the best features of an in-house service.

Pinsent Masons has also developed long-term service agreements, often referred to as ‘sole adviser’ relationships, with a number of blue-chip organisations.

We are currently looking to recruit a Tax Litigation Lawyer with 4 years + of experience into our contentious tax team, in London.

Pinsent Masons LLP has the largest tax team in a UK law firm and advises clients on all contentious and non contentious tax issues.  Our market leading contentious tax team regularly advises listed companies, foreign owned companies, public sector bodies and institutional investors on what steps to take to avoid a tax dispute with HMRC arising and, where disputes do unfortunately arise, how to secure the most favourable outcome in an efficient and cost effective manner.

The candidate will be comfortable in working both as part of a team on large matters as well as handling their own matters with support from colleagues. They would be joining a team that will provide the opportunity to work on major tax matters across the country and cross border.

Candidates should have experience in running Tax Tribunal proceedings and ideally also tax litigation in the High Court. Candidates should also have strong knowledge of the HMRC enquiry process and HMRC powers.
